Key Points of This Plan
01Momentum Factory Orii
Copper Coloring Experience/
Factory Tour
You can make copper artwork using traditional coloring techniques. Unique colors are applied to the copper and metals, and when finished, these pieces can be taken home and used as picture frames or coasters. During the factory tour, you’ll be able to see the artisan’s dedication and skills up close.
*For this plan, you may choose between the coloring experience/factory tour at Momentum Factory Orii or the tin accessory-making experience at Otera Kohachiro Shoten.
02Otera Kohachiro Shoten
Tin Accessory-making
Experience
Otera Kohachiro Shoten has been using Takaoka traditional casting techniques since the Edo Period. Here, you will be given the chance to use the characteristically soft metal tin to experience making your own original accessories.
*For this plan, you may choose between the coloring experience/factory tour at Momentum Factory Orii or the tin accessory-making experience at Otera Kohachiro Shoten.
03Onoya
Japanese Confectionery-making
Experience/Japanese Tea and
Confectionery Taste Testing
Onoya is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop with over 180 years of history, located in Yamachosuji, the district known for its abundance of traditionally made Japanese storehouses that still remain standing to this day. For this traditional confectionery-making experience, you will be making jonamagashi. After making the sweets, you can enjoy trying them along with some green tea and seasonal sweets made by the craftsman themselves.
04Experience the History of the
Town As You Stroll Through
the Streets
We recommend strolling through the streets to truly understand the 400 years of history and craft techniques in Takaoka City that have been recognized as part of the Japan heritage program. On your way to the activities facility, enjoy the townscape (Yamachosuji/Kanayamachi) and its colorful legacy that people of the past used to walk through 400 years ago.
